Reaction Rate Simulator
Choose a practical from your course and watch it happen particle by particle, with the real species named on the stage. A collision only reacts if it carries enough energy along the line of centres, so you can compare the share that succeed with the Boltzmann factor. Change the conditions mid-run to see the slope of the concentration chart change.
What you can do
- Five practicals: magnesium or zinc with acid, marble chips with acid, the disappearing cross and hydrogen peroxide, plus a custom reaction
- Temperature and concentration, surface area wherever there is a solid, and the real catalyst where the reaction uses one
- A live Maxwell-Boltzmann distribution, measured from the particles, with the Ea line and the area beyond it
- Concentration against time, with your last run dashed behind it to compare
- Approximate activation energies with their sources, and how rare a successful collision would be at the real barrier
- Practice questions on why each change speeds up a reaction, on the Arrhenius factor and on the gas each practical gives off
